Marry well

Good Afternoon beautiful people,

How is your Wednesday going? On with today’s message…If you are not Nigerian, then your probably did not understand the title of this post. Well, “marry well” simply means marry right! Make the right choice; in fact the rightest choice! This is a phrase I hear mostly from Pastor Kingsley & Mildred Okonkwo; so it’s no surprise that today’s post is about them.

Last year June, I was moving out of my previous home in the Midlands. I packed up all my belongings into my car and headed for the motorway. However, before I left, I decided to make one last stop at my friend’s house. I’d known her for about six years and she’s an extremely inspirational christian till this day so I decided to stop by and just thank her for everything. Whilst there, she said she had to put some messages on my iPod quickly and I told her I was rushing off but she persevered and was able to complete the transfer. So, I thanked her, we hugged and I left. I completely forgot about the messages, especially as I don’t use the iPod except as a USB. However, about six weeks later at my home in London, I remembered the messages my dear friend had put on my iPod and I decided to listen to them. Wow! I got the shock of my life!

The Pastor was extremely real, wise, funny, amazing and just anointed! I cried, I laughed, I bowed to God and I just felt a release! For the next two days, I locked myself indoors and just listened to all the messages, back to back from morning to night! I couldn’t get enough! Within two days, I had listened to them (all twenty hours worth of sermons). It was like receiving a rhema! I just had this new lease on life, this new spring in my step and a renewed mind! It was during those two days that the vision of “Princess of Zion” was birthed! The sermons I listened to were by Pastor Kingsley & Mildred Okonkwo! I was intrigued, humbled, amazed! I had never heard anything like this. Who were these people? So I went on the internet and did some research! I discovered that they were a successful, anointed married couple pastoring a Church and their specific passion was family and marriage. I looked at their website, I listened to all the messages on the website. I also discovered they held a monthly programme called “Love, Dating & Marriage” aka LDM, I went to that website, listened to all the messages, I found their page on Facebook, listened to all the messages, I couldn’t stop! I later discovered their services were broadcast live, so I switched my Church routine to evening service and stayed home in the mornings to watch their two morning services! I was just blessed! I was fed! It was just amazing! I couldn’t keep shut; I wanted everyone I knew to hear these things, I sent the messages across to my friends, family, I sent them to different people across the country! I think that just fuelled my passion; I just wanted everyone in the world to hear about God’s love and what we mean to Him and why we should keep ourselves holy and be very prayerful and careful in the search for a spouse! After I had sent the sermons to every possible person, that’s when I knew I wanted to go into tho ministry so I could spread this new knowledge and resources to other people. I mean, why should these benefits be limited to just my friends? What about the rest of the world?

As time went on, my own passion grew more and I started to attend other seminars, buy books, CDs, it was just an amazing experience. One day, I was led to just reach out to Pastor K&M via their Facebook Fan Page, I just told them what they’ve done and how they’ve positively impacted my life and when they do come to London, I would love to meet them. I had no clue what their schedule was or when they would next be in London, it could be a year or six months or three days, I didn’t know but I just wanted to meet them whenever that time came. As God would have it, I got a response the following day saying they were in London at the time and I should contact them via phone. We text back and forth and arranged to meet. I met with both of them at their Hotel; it was a brief meeting but it was just finally good to meet them and they were so humble, vibrant and lovely. This was in April this year and I’ve since kept in contact with them and whenever I have issues, queries, I just reach them and they’re so quick to respond and give me counsel. They’re extremely patient, loving and caring! I couldn’t ask for better mentors! As a couple, they are extremely sweet, perfectly suited and vibrant! As you know when I went to Lagos, I finally attended their Church and it was absolutely phenomenal!

The day after I returned from Lagos, Pastor K sent me a message about Pastor Mildred’s birthday! He said he had planned a surprise trip for her. They’re based in Lagos but he had  bought tickets for them to fly to America so she could attend the Joyce Meyer Love Life Convention in ST Louis. Pastor M had no clue. I just thought- Wow! Anyway, let me just tell you what happened. On Monday the 19th of September, a week before her birthday, he told Pastor M that they had to pick someone up from the airport in Lagos. So, they both went to the MMA in Nigeria and the next thing, they were on an upper class flight to London. She was absolutely stunned; he gave her no prior notice at all and he did all the packing and snuck the suitcases into the car. When they arrived in London, myself and four other ladies (members of DCC) were waiting for them with a 5 foot long banner that read “Still crazy about Mildred Okonkwo” we had balloons there, a lovely bouquet of flowers and a cake! You should have seen her face; she immediately froze and started nudging her husband! There was a huge crowd in Heathrow, all watching this romantic scene; like it was a movie! She was extremely shocked, happy and in awe of how all this was planned without her knowing. We escorted them to the Sheraton Hotel where they stayed for the night before catching their transit flight to Chicago the next day. We got to the Hotel, prayed, ordered some lovely chinese food, cut the cake, ate, drank and just had a great time! We gave her some cards and just had a party! After sometime, we left and in the morning, they were on their way to America where she had even more surprises waiting for her! This was all for her birthday!

Pastor K kept thanking us for helping him organise the London leg of the surprise but I was more thankful for being part of such a beautiful thing and witnessing first hand what a Godly marriage is about! Ladies, that is why i say “marry well”. This sounds like something straight out of a movie but it is real and I haven’t even narrated everything! It was absolutely romantic, selfless and wonderful of him to do that and it shows how much love he has for her and how much effort he puts into loving his wife and making their marriage sweet. The icing on the cake is that, for many years, Pastor Mildred had been decreeing that one day, she would be at a Joyce Meyer conference; in actual fact, days before this surprise, she even said it and Pastor K just responded by saying “AMEN” not knowing he had already secured her place at one! I mean, God is just great! They went upper class, great service, 5 star hotels and had a luxury filled holiday but remember that when they got married, it wasn’t like this!

Pastor K makes it clear that when he married her he had no income, he wasn’t rich materially but he was rich in faith! At the time, she was well educated and had a Master’s degree while he only had an OND! Yet, these things did not deter or stop her from seeing the Godly man he was and today, she is enjoying her marriage and is experiencing true marital bliss. Ladies and gentlemen, “marry well”! Don’t marry for money, security or for the person’s looks or body, marry right and ask God to lead you. So, you too can experience joy and eternal bliss in your marriage. Mind you, Pastor M makes it clear that it hasn’t been a walk in the park; there’s been financial issues, infertility amongst other things but God has seen them through it all and everyday it’s worth it! May that be your testimony in Jesus’ Name!

To an absolutely beautiful, wonderful, lovely, humble and inspiration couple, thank you! The PoZ family sincerely appreciate you and we pray that your marriage and ministry will continue to stand the test of time and grow from strength to strength, from glory to glory! It shall be well with you and all that concerns you! The way you have blessed us, the Lord shall magnify and bless you two! He shall incase you and enlarge your coast! Pastor K & Pastor M, I love you and I am glad, proud and honoured to have you as my Pastors, mentors, parents and friends! You are amazing!

Below, are more pictures from the surprise.

Remember, you can have the marriage of your dreams and in fact, the Lord will exceed all your expectations and your marriage will be a testimony! Amen! Married folk, take a cue from Pastor K, it isn’t too late to show your spouse how special they are to you. God bless you all

More about the PoZ Vision

Good Evening all,

This post was actually incorporated in the earlier one but being that we serve a living God, the earlier testimony was just too huge and so I had to separate the posts. In any case, I realise that it’s been three months since the blog started, we have many new readers and it may be the case that some of you are unaware of what Princess of Zion (PoZ) is all about and who I am. For every organisation, Church, ministry, department or blog, you need to have a vision and direction and remind your audience and helpers what the vision is.

Proverbs 29:18– Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

From Nehemiah 1-3, when the wall of Jerusalem was being rebuilt, it was made obvious that in whatever you do, you must remind yourself and others of what the vision is. Taking this example, it is important to do it at least once a month, at the very least. I hope that understanding what the vision is will encourage you in your personal relationship and journey with God, will inspire you and help you to contribute to the vision by sharing it with others. God bless.

About me

I am a British born Nigerian woman who lives in London. I am a born again Christian and I serve within two ministries in my Church (RCCG Jesus House).

I have a degree in Psychology (BSc Hons) and a certification in Peer listening. I will be moving to Lagos, Nigeria at the end of the month, to take up a role as a guidance counsellor. In Nigeria, I hope to bring the PoZ movement to life. My dream was never to be a blogger but the PoZ vision is much bigger than that and whilst waiting for the vision to crystallise, the Lord led me to start this blog. The blog is not an end in itself; it is a means.

The POZ Vision

I was going through a very difficult time in my life when I was listening to a sermon by Pastor Kingsley Okonkwo (Senior Pastor of David’s Christian Centre/Love, Dating & Marriage) and he said something that resonated with me- He said…”Don’t take nonsense my friend, how dare you? You are a DAUGHTER OF ZION!!!”

Ever since that day, I see myself as exactly that. A daughter of Zion! A princess of Zion!  It feels so empowering. Even though the blog is called “Princess of Zion”, men are welcome and I do reach out to everyone.

I am a Christian woman living my life for God and praying He will use me to do His work. I am very passionate about empowering women to do the best they can and be the best version of them. I have witnessed so much in my lifetime, women being victims of spousal abuse, rape and so much more. On the other side, I’ve also seen women give us a bad name, women involved in prostitution, infidelity and many unspeakable things.

My goal in ministry is to one day set up a recognised ministry where we deal with issues we currently cover on the blog, female empowerment, reaching your goals, being a woman of virtue in the 21st century, how to meet a Godly spouse and so on. I intend to use my education and experience in Psychology and listening to help the people I encounter.

My passion and vision is to-

1- Create and raise a generation of Princesses of Zion, virtuous women, 21st century Rebeccas and Esthers. Women who have true Godly character.

2- Women who are strong and meet their goals in every sphere of life, in terms of their academics, careers, jobs, businesses and ministry. Women who will be at the top in their line of work and ministry. Women who will use their talents and gifts for the Kingdom and to further their careers.

3- Women who know their value and won’t settle for less. Women who know their place in society and as a result will apply Biblical principles in meeting their husbands and in marriage, as such, they will never be victims of abuse, infidelity or those other societal “norms” that many of us have settled for. Women who won’t indulge in fornication or adultery but will uphold their morals and virtues.

4- We need a generation of Princesses of Zion who will cause a generation of Princes of Zion to arise and they will give birth to Godly fruit; princes and princesses of Zion. AMEN

5- I am believing in Him for my own Prince of Zion, to be my head and lead me in his vision so I can submit under his ministry. I am very passionate about the institution of marriage and the family and I believe that God wants everyone to get married and have a family vision and go about achieving it. I want to see families, were the man is the head, not only financially and physically but spiritually and the wife is indeed his help meet. I want that for myself and I want that for everyone.

To this end, practical aspects include

1- Career guidance- CV workshops, interview training. I worked in a recruitment company previously and one of my passions is helping people realise their potential in their career. Giving people practical advice on job seeking, helping them to start their own businesses and also helping people looking to further their education- applications, personal statements and so on.

2- Financial sponsorship- One of the reasons why I would love to have a prospering business is so I could invest that money into other lives. I would love to help people who are unable to go to school or start a business, by sponsoring their education or giving them the capital they need to launch a business. That is an ultimate dream of mine.

3- Sharing the Word- One major thing I believe in is spreading the gospel. I believe in daily devotionals, Bible reading and in line with my ministry aim, reading Christian resources about marriage and family. I would love to buy thousands of devotionals, Bibles, Books and CDs on marriage and send them to people and institutions. I would love to sponsor the supply of daily devotionals to hospitals, hotels, schools, homes and so on.

4- People in need- I’m sure we’ve all seen the cases of people who need help for life-saving surgery, people who are in a state of crisis and emergency who require urgent financial help. I long for a day when the PoZ family will be a huge network of loving givers who would come together and pledge to help and contribute to these people who need help.

5- Meetings- I would love to hold events, seminars, where we just congregate and speak about the Word of God! God willing, the blog will always be there; hopefully it will develop into a much more professional website. But for me, it’s imperative that I meet the “audience” one-on-one and speak to them in person! That has always been my ultimate dream, addressing a group of people and teaching them what I have learned in terms of relationships, managing the waiting period and so on. I would love to talk to the women while my husband spoke to the men and then also speak to the men, give them a woman’s point of view and I know the ladies have been waiting for a male point of view; so I would love my husband to also address the women, one-on-one get to know them. Of course, there will be the joint meetings and just seeing everything fall into place. I just long for that day!

I know this all seems like a lot but from the bottom of my heart, this is what I want to do and I strongly believe I was created for this and I long for the day when PoZ will be an acronym known the world over and one that is associated with sharing love, peace and bringing hope to lives, homes, marriages and families! A ministry and movement with thousands, millions of Princes and Princesses of Zion worldwide working together to make the world a better place! Lord, I know that this will happen one day, I don’t know how but I just ask for the grace to hold on, stand strong and persevere. I ask for clarity and I ask that you open the eyes of my heart so I can see and hear you clearly. I ask You Father, to please help me; don’t let me give up! Father please send helpers of destiny and just lead me on this mission. Father, I know that I won’t be doing this alone and so I ask that wherever my husband is, You begin to prepare him, teach him and mould him. I pray that even when we meet, we will connect and we will work together in perfect harmony to achieve Your will. Above all things Lord, let us work hand in hand on our marriage, our home, family and our ministry! Lord, take control of this vision, please don’t let it die! I promise to stay faithful, I just want to make You proud and want to bring change to the society.

I hope this has enlightened you on what the PoZ movement is about and has inspired you to chase your dreams, realise your vision and be the best you can be. I also pray that when this movement becomes a fully functional ministry, you will be a fundamental part of it and will support us with prayers and in every way you can. God bless and prosper you all. AMEN.

Updates….Great news

Good Evening family,

Please excuse my absence over the last couple of days; I think it’s time I also update you on what’s been going on in my life. As you know, I returned from Lagos a month ago very much convinced about my relocation. So, at the end of this month, I will be finally relocating to Lagos, Nigeria for good. So, I’ve been trying to pack up my life and all that I know here into a few suitcases and make the move. I have so much to do, in terms of my home, my commitments, contracts, selling my car and so on.

Another thing is that for about two years now, I’ve known that I wanted t go into business and I tried to make the move but to no success so far. However, earlier on this year, the Lord divinely intervened and showed me what to do, where and how and I’m so grateful. The Lord has been leading me and directing me and before I move to Lagos, I need to set up a few things with regards to the business as I do have some prospective clients here in the UK as well. So, that’s another thing I will be working on.

I’m sure by now, you know one of my mottos is -get a life! In order to blow off some steam, I will be travelling this weekend- I’m off on holiday for seven days! I will be going on a mini Euro trip- France, Monaco, Germany and Poland! I’m really excited- I have been to France before but I went to Paris; this time I’ll be going to Nice. I’ve also been to Germany but I went to Cologne, this time I’ll be stopping in Berlin! I’m very excited to go on this trip, I’ve made it clear that I love travelling and experiencing new cultures and I’ve never been to Monaco or Poland; these are two very beautiful places with rich culture, historic sites and picturesque surroundings. I’m thankful to God for giving me the means and I’m happy I can go there and learn about other people. So, I will be gone for a week; I’m not sure if I’ll be able to blog but as soon as I get back, I will let you know how the trip went and hopefully post some photos as well.

As I said, at the end of the month, I’m off to Lagos! Will be working as a guidance counsellor for a year at the same time, launching the business earlier mentioned! I will let you know the nature of the business in the future, with a lot more detail. I’m still working on the logistics but God willing, before Christmas, we’ll be in operation. I am very excited because the business has been led by the Holy Spirit, God has been great and the business will create other businesses. One of the main aspects of the business is actually about passing on knowledge to other people and creating avenues for people to become entrepreneurs. I’m sure some of you will be interested and I sincerely pray the business will bless you one way or the other and I pray it will inspire you to chase your own dreams. Amen. So, there will be more about that soon.

I got the greatest news today and I’m just grateful to God. One of the main reasons why I decided to leave at the end of the month and not earlier is because of the RCCG Festival of Life Event in London on Friday 26th of October! It is such an amazing meeting with God and my favourite event worldwide. I just got the news that I will be helping out on the day; in terms of organising the event and I’m absolutely grateful to be part of something so awesome and powerful and I will be meeting the GO which is a wonderful opportunity to see the man who has led this vision for many years and has been a humble and faithful servant of God! I’ve worked on several events before and made tonnes of money but nothing has meant as much as this; I thank God for such an opportunity to put my hands to the plow and be a part of an event of such magnitude; over 60,000 people attend the FOL and meeting the visionary himself; someone who we all aspire to be is such a privilege! Wow! I am so glad for those days, working in my Church office for free and doing it with all my heart!

Proverbs 22:29– Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.

When I worked there, I had no ulterior motives, hopes or dreams but to just serve the Lord! That was my intention but God is a rewarder of those that diligently seek Him! Oh, I declare that for all our readers, this month, this season, the Lord will place you before kings! You will stand before kings, dine with kings and not mean men! You shall reach your place of honour and lifting! Amen! Glorify the Lord with me and thank Him for such an opportunity as this! Thank You My Jehovah Jireh; I am ever grateful! Ladies and gentlemen, go in peace and serve the Lord with all your heart and might and He will lift you! Amen. God bless you all.

It is a message by Dr. Myles Munroe. I’ve recently been watching his sermons on Youtube and they have been a great and mighty resource! Watch “Kingdom Keys to Successful Relationships” Here

www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Vny0DqwDcg

Let’s thank God for this wonderful message, I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did! Let’s also thank God for Dr. Myles Munroe and His ministry and pray that the hand of the Lord will always be upon him and all that he does! May the Lord continue to bless him, his wife, family and ministry just as he blesses us! Let’s also pray for Gloria and thank God for her life! Let’s ask God to continue to bless, prosper and favour her! We pray that as she has sent us such a wonderful message, the Lord will whisper great mysteries to her and surprise her this season in Jesus’ Name. Amen. Every heart desire of hers, may the Lord fulfil and bring to completion in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Lastly, married couples, we would love to hear from you! In August, during the celebration of marriage week, we read the stories and testimonies of a few couples but the readers would like to hear from you; what has been your testimony? How and where did you meet? How long was your courtship? What conflicts have you faced in marriage and how do you deal with it? How do the two of you work on your marriage? We would love you to share your personal testimony with us; so we can be inspired and encouraged! Remember that marriage is not just a union of two people but it is a ministry and we pray that your marriage ministry will be a testimony and a huge source of inspiration that will lead thousands to Christ! It doesn’t matter if you have been married for one month or fifty years, we would love to hear from you because every marriage regardless of its duration has its unique testimony.

Praying for Marriages

Good Evening family,

How are we all today? Hope you’re enjoying this week so far. London has been extremely rainy and grey; I am looking forward to leaving! Today’s message is going to be short, sweet and straight to the point but I pray that the excellent spirit that was on Daniel will fall upon and rest on us today and always. I pray that what the Lord wants us to learn, He will show us and give us the grace to act according to His will. Amen.

Last week, I was watching a sermon by Dr. Myles Munroe called “Singleness”. It was extremely beautiful and enlightening. One of the things that however stood out for me was when he shortly spoke about divorce. He said that divorce is one of the most painful experiences a human being can go through; worse than death. With death, there is some level of closure but most times with divorce there isn’t. Life goes on but you still see the person; especially if you have kids. You may have to watch the person get married again. It can be an excruciating process, before, during and after!

Two days after that, I was speaking to a friend when she told me about a couple we knew who was getting a divroce; I instantly felt down, sad and broken! I am not close to the couple but it’s just sad to know a couple who was once so in love, made vows to spend their lives together and today their marriage is ending in divorce. It was extremely bad news for me and I spent the rest of the day quite sad. To make things even worse, during my blog run that evening, I learned that a very wonderful and lovely couple in ministry was getting a divorce. All this in one day; I was extremely hurt and sad because only recently I had watched sermons by the wife who is also a Pastor  and I thought she was extremely lovely, wise and humble! I imagined how great a ministry she had and how lovely and peaceful her family must be! I was so sad to learn about this impending divorce and it dawned on me that as christians, we need to intercede for our leaders, our family and friends! We can no longer sit down and watch painful things unfold but we must be active in this fight for peace and unity within our homes, families, marriages and ministry! I personally believe that as Christians, we must be our brother’s keeper! If you are a regular reader of this blog, by now you know that I am very passionate about the family unit, marriage ministry and children and I know most readers are too! We must intercede for families, homes and marriages!

2 Corinthians 10:3-4– For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;).

We can no longer sit back and just watch wonderful and inspirational marriages fail and dissolve, we can no longer sit back and watch families ripped apart of couples living together but in war! We can’t do this anymore! We need to use our power in the spirit realm to fight for unity.

There is a saying that goes “United we stand, divided we fall”; this is very true and is depicted in the Bible.

Deuteronomy 32:30– How could one person chase a thousand of them, and two people put ten thousand to flight, unless their Rock had sold them, unless the Lord had given them up?

Are we all aware of this? There is power in numbers and power in agreement which is why the devil hates unity! He loves to separate and divide and division is a spirit. Tribalism, divorce, family separation/malice, all these issues are spirits manifested by the devil to stop unity and we need to fight against this. There is so much division in the world; whites against blacks, then within the black race, West Indiands Vs Africans; West Africans Vs North Africans, Ghana vs Nigeria, within Nigeria, Igbo Vs Yoruba, even within the tribe, this village versus that village, in that street, this street versus that street, within a family, this side doesn’t speak to that side! I mean it is a spirit and we must understand this! Today, I urge you to pray against every spirit of division within families, tribes, nations and across the world.

More specifically, let’s take the institution of marriage to our Lord who created it and ask Him to intervene! Whether you are single or married, come to God and thank Him for inventing such a beautiful thing as marriage and acknowledge that all He does is perfect! Let’s thank Him for the Bible He provided us with and for the gift of the Holy Spirit who leads us. We need to pray for marriages around us, our marriages, that of friends, colleagues, our parents, grand parents, children and our leaders! You may know of a couple who is going through a difficult time, why not use your authority as a child of God to intercede for them? Pray for them and commit their marriage into God’s hands and declare that they will find peace again, unity will reign in their home and that they will feel love and joy again! Decree that their marriage will never end in divorce but will be a testimony that will lead people to Christ! Amen! What about that couple that you admire, that lovely couple that is so inspirational and happy? Lift them up before God; praise the Lord for the success of their marriage but ask God to continually be with them and to triple their joy. Tell God how much of an inspiration they are to you and you want their marriage to continue to touch others; ask the Lord to give them grace to continue and ensure that their marriage will not end prematurely!

What about our leaders in ministry? Our Pastors in Church and the Pastors whose books and CDs we buy, the sermons we watch online. What about them? Or the ones whose blogs we read? They bless us everyday with their inspirational messages yet do we take the time out to bless them with prayers and prophetic declarations? You know these Pastors have thousands of sheep to tend to and lead, yet do we pray for God to grant them grace and lead them? We need to lift our pastors up before God and ask for His intervention in their lives and ministry! We need to pray for their marriages and ask God to give them strength and grace and decree that their marriage shall never be a failure neither shall they end in divorce! We must decree the favour of God upon their marriage and that the Lord will continually bless their union, take them from strength to strength and magnify the joy they felt on their wedding day throughout the course of their marriage. This year alone, there have been so many cases of divorce in the body of Christ especially within the leadership and it’s very sad to see but I believe that if we all stand together, pray for our leaders always and intercede for them, it will be a thing of the past!

For those of you who are married, pray for your marriage, pray for your spouse; whether in time of trouble or joy! Always ask God to protect and preserve your marriage; always ask God for the grace to hold on and enjoy your marriage! Decree that every spirit of division will be far, very far from your home! While those of you who are still single, yes you may not have met your spouse but begin to pray for your marriage; that it shall never end in tears or divorce! Tell God to give you a marriage which will be beautiful and blessed; one you will enjoy and not endure! One that will bless thousands of people and lead people to Christ! Happy marriages really give children an insight into what the family unit should be and gives them a good start in life and we as Christians need to cherish and protect the gift of marriage and always stand in the gap, praying for marriages all around us! Not only should they last but they should inspire other people and that both parties in the marriage enjoy it and that others around will be touched by the marriage! Decree that divorce will become a thing of the past in ministry and every spirit of division in the Church will die! Decree restoration to the marriages of our leaders and pray that God gives our Pastors the strength and grace to hold on to their families and to always be committed and dedicated to their marriage! We just need to pray; because if we are honest, these statistics do affect people and discourage them and so we must intercede! I hope you will join me today in this fight to preserve, protect the family institution and marriage! God bless you all!

Thank You Father!

Today’s message is very short and I please adjure you to heed to this message and act as God leads you. I know that God wants each of us to do something with regards to this!

Before the weekend, I wrote a three part series about hearing God; the last one was on Sunday and I headed to Church! Unknown to me, we had a guest speaker and his messages for the two services were on what? Just guess? “Hearing from God”. All the things I had posted about, He covered and I just thought God is wonderful! If you’ve been an avid reader of POZ, you will know that this is not the first time it has happened! Many times, I pick a season to talk about something or even a day’s post and the next day in Church, they preach the exact same thing and I had no prior knowledge! It happened with the prayer chain, the posts on vision, the pursuit of God fast and so on. When this happens, it makes me know that God is indeed speaking and that is a message He wants us to hear LOUD and CLEAR. It also helps me to reaffirm that I am working on the same page as Him and He wants the readers to get that message! Ladies and gentlemen, please please please, we must hear God! We need to pray about hearing God! Remember that God is not a God of confusion. To this end, I would like to give a short testimony on one particular experience of hearing God.

Last year, I was praying to God about what my next step in life is and I got three very clear words from God about relocating to Lagos, Nigeria! They all came through sermons all within a few days! I was at the midweek service in Church where the guest Pastor was preaching about something ver different and suddenly said something about relocating to Nigeria. I was later watching a live broadcast of a service in Nigeria where Fela Durotoye was preaching about something unrelated and then said the same thing, in a third message, it happened again and I knew! However, a lot of circumstances changed after that so, this year, nearing the end of my post graduate degree, I started praying again and I just felt peace about relocating. So, I started packing up in August! The day before I travelled, I walked into Pound land to buy some things and the boy at the till asked me if I was travelling and I say yes I was relocating and he said “back home in Africa?” I said yes and he was so excited, encouraged me and said he wished he could do the same. I then went into super drug to buy some more things, lady at the till asked me the same question! The same conversation ensued; almost identical to the previous one and she said the same thing- This is amazing, wow I wish I could do that” I knew the Lord was speaking and I felt confident! I obviously went to Lagos the next day and returned three weeks later! The day after I arrived, I had to take my car to Kwik-Fit for an MOT test and the garage receptionist somehow struck up a conversation that led to me disclosing I was relocating to Nigeria and before I left he said “Miss, make sure you go to Africa, you are better off there, I think you should go”. Something along those lines and I just knew that God was talking to me and letting me know that relocating was the right move! Sometimes, it just takes us being more sensitive to the spirit to recognise this!

But I know in this new month and new season, the Lord is urging us to listen out for His voice more often and to heed to His call! This month, the Lord will speak great mysteries to us and He wants us to be ready to hear! Every step you want to take, the Lord has an answer for you and is happy to direct you but He is calling us to hear Him! Friends, let’s hear the Word of our God! God bless you all!

I know she used the shower: Hearing from God 3

Good Morning all my beautiful readers,

Happy Sunday to you all and welcome to the very last day of Septermber 2012! By God’s Grace, we will all see October tomorrow, October 2013, October 2073 and even beyond! Praise the Lord! First of all, I would like to share something with you and encourage you to join in and make it a part of you! In the past, I fasted on every single Monday of the week; just a religious fast to introduce me to the week and invite God’s presence. However, after a corporate fast in Church which we call the “Pursuit of God”, I decided to embark on the pursuit of God at the start of every month! The first three days of the month, I spend fasting, and purposefully spending a lot more time with God; much more than every other time! That doesn’t mean that after this, I don’t pray or read the Bible! I made that decision on the first day of the fast and ironically, after the fast, Pastor spoke to the office workers and asked us to each conduct our own personal “Pursuit of God” every month for three days! I was absolutely shocked because only a few weeks before, I had decided to do it so I knew God was definitely speaking. Yesterday however, I was led by God to share this with you and encourage you to also partake! It’s a period of three consecutive days every month where you spend much more time in prayer, fasting, pursuing God in His word and just communing with Him! Spend the time shut out from the World and hearing from God! I like to do mine at the start of every month because it also gives me a chance to speak to God about the month and ask Him to take control! You can however do it when you choose; at the end, at the middle whenever! But I think as you grow in Christ, you make more efforts and attempt to know Him, encounter Him and commune with Him and this is one I ask you to embark on. If you would like to do this, please do so as led.

On with today’s message, sometime ago, I went into the bathroom to take a shower. We have one of those showers where you can adjust the temperature to different degree’s as opposed to those ones where you have to open hot and cold to get the right temperature. On this, you just adjust it to whatever temperature you like . So, as I entered, I put on the shower and it was hot! Uncomfortably hot and I instantly knew my mother had been in the shower before me! Many other times when I entered and it was quite cold, I knew it was my father! I’ve known them for so many years and became familiar with their choices; even how hot or cold they like their shower! It’s the same thing with God, the more time you spend with Him, hearing His voice, the more sensitive you are to His voice and are able to accurately discern whether or not He is speaking to you! It’s as simple as that! However, many of you have asked how to hear from God and how do you know if it is God, your voice or just pure paranoia? Well, I found this very lovely article about this and I thought to share it with you! Enjoy!

Isaiah 30:21And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.

We’re all keen to hear from God. But the question still remains how do we hear from God? God is always speaking but the problem is we’re not listening. Let’s take this example, there are a lot of radio waves in the air but your radio set can not get a good signal coming in unless you tune in to the actual frequency the radio is broadcasting on. This also holds true to hearing from God. One needs to tune in to the voice of God with their spirit. Often than not we miss His voice…There are many incidents in the Bible where people even men of God missed the voice of God. The prophet Samuel mistook the voice of God for the voice of the High priest Eli (1 Samuel 3:1-19).For the word of the Lord had not been revealed to him (Chapter 3:7) It was not until the priest Eli revealed to him that it was the LORD calling, that Samuel recognised the voice of God from ( Chapter 3:8-9). And once he recognised the voice of God, he did not struggle a second time to recognised the voice a second time, in fact no mention was made in the Bible about Samuel going back to Eli whiles the Lord called again. Therefore, the key to hearing from God is; “recognition of the voice of God”, tuning in to the right spiritual frequency.

The Lord often speaks in mysterious ways, and we should be ready at all times to hear. One thing that will preclude one from hearing from God is familiarity. Often than not, God speaks in ways we cannot perceive as God, the small little whisper (1 Kings 19:11-13).It happened to Elijah on the mount Horeb.God spoke in a gentle whisper instead of the well-known Fire, earthquake and strong wind. This in fact reveals that God can speak through any medium and you just have to be ready for Him. The LORD sometimes uses circumstances and situations to speak to us, and mostly things around us! The key is recognition! My sheep listen to my voice (John 10:27).

Ways God speaks to His Children
Every Father desires his Children pays attention to him, and therefore He will speak as long as the Children listen. God speaks in many ways, the key is we have to Hear:
1. The primary source God uses to speak to his Children is the Bible (Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth).
2. God always speaks of Good things, whilst the devil speaks of evil things.
3. Through our spirit-Our spirit bears witness with the Spirit of God that we are the sons of God (Romans 8:16). God always download information and assignments into our spirit daily, you need to discern them!
4. God speaks through other mediums; situations, circumstances, events, people, animals etc.
5. The voice of God always confirms the word of God, in fact He has placed his word above His Name!
6.If you hear a voice and you’re uncertain if that voice is from God, then ask God for a sign to confirm what you’re hearing. Gideon asked for a confirmation (Judges 6:36-40). In fact there are numerous ways God speaks to us, and one needs to read more of the Bible to discover that truth!
When and Where can we hear God’s voice
We can hear God’s voice everywhere and at anytime.
Who does God Speak to or With?
God does not have a particular preference for who He wants to talk to. God speaks to everyone as long as you are ready to listen to Him. He even speaks into the heart of sinners so that they might come to know His ways (Acts 10:34).
Hearing Correctly
There is a distinction between hearing something and giving heed to the word you’re hearing. Hearing correctly is accomplished by the heart rather than the ears. The heart has ears attached to them, and is only when one learns to hear with the heart rather than with onlythe normal ears that he/she can hear correctly (Mark 4:9).Words must find a place into our hearts and spirit. Faith even comes by hearing and hearing the word of God. You can’t have faith without first hearing the word of God and digesting it with your spiritual faculties. Therefore take heed to what you hear, for whatever you hear will give you faith positively or negatively!
Mark 4:24-And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you; and unto you that hear shall more be given.
How one hears is more important
God is mostly preceded by “Hear !” emphasising the need for us to give heed to the word that follows in our hearts, and not to harden our hearts as did our ancestors and died in the desert. Hearing God is the ability to understand (Discern) and utilize effectively what He says. God will only speak when He needs our attention, and it is important we get that spiritual wavelength that He is transmitting on, so that we don’t miss out on important instructions for our life. Be careful what you’re hearing because there is a lot of noise out there, and the media is full of it! The only medium worthy of authentic information is the Bible handed down to us through revelation and spiritual insight. Once again God is speaking and the key to hearing what He is saying is to be prepared to listen, and recognising that small voice deep inside your inner being. What is God saying in these last days through His spirit and the world order? Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear what God is saying to us in these end-times!
I hope this answered your numerous questions; the key is praying and giving God the opportunity to speak and always being ready, receptive and willing to hear with your heart! God wants us to hear Him and He sure wants to  speak with us! Seek Him and you will find Him! Have a great Sunday and God bless you all!
