Educate yourself

Good Evening again,

Second post of the night! So, if you’ve noticed I try to ensure that the blog depicts positivity and joy but today, I have to bring something rather disturbing and sad to your attention. You may remember me saying I embarked on a series of medical tests including my genotype and so on! Here is my follow up on that. I’ve previously mentioned that my mother was diagnosed with Sickle Cell Anemia as a child and is of SC genotype! How many of you were shocked to see SC and not SS? Mother had always told me I was AC but had nothing in writing to show me and as it was a very long time ago, I decided to recheck! In England, things like genotype tests aren’t common unless something urgent occurs or you’re having a baby! So, when I went to Lagos in August, I decided to have it done there! The results said I am AS! When I informed my mother, she was shocked and swore I was AC and my sister was AS! I even told the doctor this and he reassured me it was AS! This is a private doctor from a very reputable hospital who charges a lot and does home visits for my family! So, I found it hard to believe that they were wrong. My mother however insisted that I took another test when I returned to England!

I was able to convince the doctor’s that I really needed to identify my genotype and they finally agreed to do the test and the results came back, the doctor invited me in to talk me through it and the results were AC! Yes AC and not AS! AC! I have it in writing! I couldn’t mask my shock and disappointment at the wrong information given to me in Nigeria. I informed my mother of the results and she said yes she was positive and then confided in me about a scenario that occurred earlier on in Lagos! A little boy whose mother lived with us previously was ill and my mum took his health as her responsibility. At the hospital, the doctors said he was SS and my mother immediately had her suspicions because the boy is 12 years old and had never reported Sickle Cell crisis-like symptoms and being a Sickle Cell sufferer herself, my mother was adamant that he didn’t have that genotype so she took him to another hospital to retrieve his genotype. Guess what? They said he was AS! Much more believable and just to be double sure, mother insisted on getting a third opinion so they sought a third hospital! To her shock, they said he was AA! I couldn’t believe this! Which one were we to believe? Do we have to do twenty tests and then the genotype with the highest frequency wins?

I was explaining the episode to a friend of mine when she said another friend had been through a similar experience; luckily that friend was British as well and so in England, she was able to get her actual genotype! My fear here is what about people who can’t afford to go overseas? How many people in Nigeria have been given the wrong genotype? How many of those have made marriage selection choices based on this wrong genotype? My mind went wild, I just couldn’t believe this! What made me even more worried is the situation with women who are O-! Do you know the situation or not? Let me summarise incase you don’t.

If as a woman, your blood group is O- and you marry a man who is O+, your baby could either be O- or O+. If the baby happens to be O+. The negative blood type is not compatible with the baby’s positive blood type. If your baby’s blood type is positive and it mixes in with your blood, your body responds to this as if it were a foreign body and your body will make anti-bodies that could potentially attack the fetes  much like it would a virus causing the pregnancy to miscarry! In this situation, at 28 weeks of pregnancy, the mother is given a shot of Rhogam (sp) and again shortly after delivery (because the blood could have mixed during the delivery); this prevents the production of those antibodies and ensures the baby is not attacked and prevents miscarriage! So, if you know and carry out the procedures at the right time, you need not worry about this but if you don’t know that’s when you may have an issue and I believe that not knowing and not taking the shot is actually a major cause of a lot of miscarriages. Why am I worried? If Nigerian doctors are getting the wrong genotype, do they also make mistakes with blood groups? Can an O- lady be told that she’s O+ and marries an O+ man, has an O+ foetus and her body attacks the child and she miscarries all because they didn’t detect the right blood group? I know people who have had several miscarriages, could this be a reason? I’m not trying to scare anyone but just bringing something so serious to your knowledge. Please read more about this here- www.americanpregnancy.org/pregnancycomplications/rhfactor.html

I am aware that this little paragraph may not give an accurate or full picture.

As if things couldn’t get worse, I read the story of a diabetic woman who was administered the wrong medication at the detriment to her health. You can read it here- www.bellanaija.com/2012/10/22/quiz-your-doctor-till-youre-satisfied-the-editor-of-redsheet-magazine-chris-ayo-joseph-shares-the-story-of-wrongly-prescribed-drugs

There are many other sad stories like this and I think that it is imperative that we educate ourselves and try as much as possible not to cut corners on our health! Health is wealth and if you can go overseas even just once in your life, I suggest you check important things such as your genotype, blood group, HIV status and so many other things and have the results in writing!

Lastly, while describing my ordeal to people, only one person knew of the genotypes CC, AC and SC. Everyone was else was shocked! I will admit, if mother didn’t have Sickle Cell and wasn’t of SC genotype, I probably would be in the same shoes but thank God I’m not! In the old days, the only genotypes detected were AA, SS and AS but with time and more sophisticated medical equipment, the other genotypes and Sickle Haemoglobin were discovered! But in some countries, medical practitioners are still unaware of this hence the widespread ignorance! I actually spoke to a sixth year medical student in Nigeria about something and he asked for my genotype and when I said AC, his response was “which one is AC” I couldn’t believe it; absolutely appalling! To read more about Sickle Cell and genotype testing, please visit www.sicklecellsociety.org/websites/123reg/LinuxPackage22/si/ck/le/sicklecellsociety.org/public_html/disorders/view/1

I would like to adjure everyone to make it their duty to educate yourself, family and friends about important things such as your health and wellbeing. Always ask your doctor questions about prescriptions, read them and be very proactive in managing your health! Know your blood group, genotype and HIV status! Go for medical check ups at least twice a year! Especially when getting married or planning a family, you ought to be very cognisant of these things and educate yourself! I certainly do not know enough about Sickle Cell Anaemia, the negative and positive blood group scenario and I will make it a point of duty to educate myself on these things.

I am not a medical doctor and I must apologise for probably not using the right terms and not explaining things in detail, but I will encourage you to spend sometime to do your research as well! We spend hours reading novels, magazines, blogs, researching prospective cars, company interviews, real estate investments and so on, let’s apply the same amount of effort into managing our health. Amen! Ladies and gentlemen, God bless you all.

I’m back! Addressing comments

Good Evening to the most blessed and awesome readers and family on cyber space!

Praise the Lord! Hallelujah! Praise the living God! Ladies and gentlemen, my vacation was amazing, fun and wonderful! Certainly very eventful and lovely! The Lord was always with me and granted me favour across the five countries, seven cities I visited! Anyway, enough about my travels, I have so much to say that I have to post two messages today and  so no time to speak about the holiday yet!

While I was away, I received lots of emails and comments which I will start to go through today but I have to clarify a few things. I do post most comments, virtually 99% of comments are approved and replied to. I have no problems with people posting links to their own blogs, websites or business servers! I however do check first of all to ensure it isn’t spam and also to make sure the website is of principled nature and nothing immoral or indecent! So,  feel free to leave links!

I’m sure you know that I also do  post comments which may not be positive but are critical. My reason for this is because I do believe that people are entitled to their opinion and if they don’t “understand” a point, I am happy to clarify with such people and hopefully help them better understand what they’re questioning. It is also imperative that I do not give the readers a disillusioned idea of what goes on. As adults, we will face criticism at work, school, by family, friends, just to name a few and I want people to see how I deal with such criticism calmly and to let them know that though you may get negative feedback, stay true, strong and persevere in what you are doing.

I don’t want this blog to seem unreal and one where people’s views or questions are censored! I however have to say that any comment which is blasphemous will never be approved! Anything that mocks or insults God will not be published! I will not be a party to that! Any comments belittling or making insensitive comments about other readers will not be tolerated! If there is something you do not agree with, there is a sensible, mature and courteous way to put it across. There is no need to mock anyone on the blog and I will not be accepting comments that do this! I will also not approve any comments that may mislead others. Comments such as “God agrees with sex before marriage “; anything outright wrong and misleading will never be approved! Again I say, any comment mocking or insulting me or readers shall not be accepted!

I apologise to the 99% responsible readers and commenters for having to post this message but I felt it necessary to address the issue which I had previously ignored but after receiving a comment from a reader mocking and insulting another reader, I felt the need to clarify this! Many thanks to all of you for your continued support, prayers and sharing! I sincerely appreciate and love you all! God bless you!

With love from the South of France

Good Evening to my beautiful family,

How are we all doing today? I trust that you’re well? I actually composed this message on Friday morning on the way to the airport, I clicked publish and only just realised it never posted. Apologies!

Well, I arrived safely in France on Friday. I’m staying in Menton, which is right in the south of France. So, we’ve visited a different city everyday. On Friday we were in Nice and Menton, yesterday Nice and Monaco and right now on my way to Cannes! Tomorrow, we’ll be going to Monaco again and on Tuesday, we’re off to Italy for the day. I’ll keep you posted when I get back. So far, everything is absolutely beautiful and picturesque! The weather has been great and it’s been lovely overall; sightseeing and taking it all in.

I’ve received so many emails over the past few days; sorry I haven’t gotten round to responding but I’ll do that when I return from my trip. I’m grateful to everyone who has been reading, participating and sharing; may the Lord bless you.

I will be back in London next Friday afternoon by God’s special grace. While I’m away, I doubt I’ll be blogging as I have 5 countries, 7 cities to get through in 7days and I will be very busy. But please do send any queries or questions you may have to princessofzion@rocketmail.com

Feel free to visit all the recommended websites, blogs and Youtube channels. Continue to love and serve the Lord and thirst for His Word.

Food for thought

The Mayor of a town in America was part of a huge town parade; he was on the float with his wife waving to the huge crowd. Then, they suddenly noticed the wife’s ex boyfriend, sweeping in a corner; he was a cleaner at the gas station. Immediately, the Mayor said to his wife “Thank God you married me and not him; you would have been the wife of a janitor” Then she turned to her husband the mayor and said “If I married him, he would be the mayor”

Culled from ODM July- Sep 2012

Praise the Lord! Ladies and gentlemen, you have yourself a great and wonderful Sunday evening and a blessed week ahead!

May the Lord bless you and keep you.

May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you.

May the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace. AMEN!

God bless you all!

Lots of love

More about the PoZ Vision

Good Evening all,

This post was actually incorporated in the earlier one but being that we serve a living God, the earlier testimony was just too huge and so I had to separate the posts. In any case, I realise that it’s been three months since the blog started, we have many new readers and it may be the case that some of you are unaware of what Princess of Zion (PoZ) is all about and who I am. For every organisation, Church, ministry, department or blog, you need to have a vision and direction and remind your audience and helpers what the vision is.

Proverbs 29:18– Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

From Nehemiah 1-3, when the wall of Jerusalem was being rebuilt, it was made obvious that in whatever you do, you must remind yourself and others of what the vision is. Taking this example, it is important to do it at least once a month, at the very least. I hope that understanding what the vision is will encourage you in your personal relationship and journey with God, will inspire you and help you to contribute to the vision by sharing it with others. God bless.

About me

I am a British born Nigerian woman who lives in London. I am a born again Christian and I serve within two ministries in my Church (RCCG Jesus House).

I have a degree in Psychology (BSc Hons) and a certification in Peer listening. I will be moving to Lagos, Nigeria at the end of the month, to take up a role as a guidance counsellor. In Nigeria, I hope to bring the PoZ movement to life. My dream was never to be a blogger but the PoZ vision is much bigger than that and whilst waiting for the vision to crystallise, the Lord led me to start this blog. The blog is not an end in itself; it is a means.

The POZ Vision

I was going through a very difficult time in my life when I was listening to a sermon by Pastor Kingsley Okonkwo (Senior Pastor of David’s Christian Centre/Love, Dating & Marriage) and he said something that resonated with me- He said…”Don’t take nonsense my friend, how dare you? You are a DAUGHTER OF ZION!!!”

Ever since that day, I see myself as exactly that. A daughter of Zion! A princess of Zion!  It feels so empowering. Even though the blog is called “Princess of Zion”, men are welcome and I do reach out to everyone.

I am a Christian woman living my life for God and praying He will use me to do His work. I am very passionate about empowering women to do the best they can and be the best version of them. I have witnessed so much in my lifetime, women being victims of spousal abuse, rape and so much more. On the other side, I’ve also seen women give us a bad name, women involved in prostitution, infidelity and many unspeakable things.

My goal in ministry is to one day set up a recognised ministry where we deal with issues we currently cover on the blog, female empowerment, reaching your goals, being a woman of virtue in the 21st century, how to meet a Godly spouse and so on. I intend to use my education and experience in Psychology and listening to help the people I encounter.

My passion and vision is to-

1- Create and raise a generation of Princesses of Zion, virtuous women, 21st century Rebeccas and Esthers. Women who have true Godly character.

2- Women who are strong and meet their goals in every sphere of life, in terms of their academics, careers, jobs, businesses and ministry. Women who will be at the top in their line of work and ministry. Women who will use their talents and gifts for the Kingdom and to further their careers.

3- Women who know their value and won’t settle for less. Women who know their place in society and as a result will apply Biblical principles in meeting their husbands and in marriage, as such, they will never be victims of abuse, infidelity or those other societal “norms” that many of us have settled for. Women who won’t indulge in fornication or adultery but will uphold their morals and virtues.

4- We need a generation of Princesses of Zion who will cause a generation of Princes of Zion to arise and they will give birth to Godly fruit; princes and princesses of Zion. AMEN

5- I am believing in Him for my own Prince of Zion, to be my head and lead me in his vision so I can submit under his ministry. I am very passionate about the institution of marriage and the family and I believe that God wants everyone to get married and have a family vision and go about achieving it. I want to see families, were the man is the head, not only financially and physically but spiritually and the wife is indeed his help meet. I want that for myself and I want that for everyone.

To this end, practical aspects include

1- Career guidance- CV workshops, interview training. I worked in a recruitment company previously and one of my passions is helping people realise their potential in their career. Giving people practical advice on job seeking, helping them to start their own businesses and also helping people looking to further their education- applications, personal statements and so on.

2- Financial sponsorship- One of the reasons why I would love to have a prospering business is so I could invest that money into other lives. I would love to help people who are unable to go to school or start a business, by sponsoring their education or giving them the capital they need to launch a business. That is an ultimate dream of mine.

3- Sharing the Word- One major thing I believe in is spreading the gospel. I believe in daily devotionals, Bible reading and in line with my ministry aim, reading Christian resources about marriage and family. I would love to buy thousands of devotionals, Bibles, Books and CDs on marriage and send them to people and institutions. I would love to sponsor the supply of daily devotionals to hospitals, hotels, schools, homes and so on.

4- People in need- I’m sure we’ve all seen the cases of people who need help for life-saving surgery, people who are in a state of crisis and emergency who require urgent financial help. I long for a day when the PoZ family will be a huge network of loving givers who would come together and pledge to help and contribute to these people who need help.

5- Meetings- I would love to hold events, seminars, where we just congregate and speak about the Word of God! God willing, the blog will always be there; hopefully it will develop into a much more professional website. But for me, it’s imperative that I meet the “audience” one-on-one and speak to them in person! That has always been my ultimate dream, addressing a group of people and teaching them what I have learned in terms of relationships, managing the waiting period and so on. I would love to talk to the women while my husband spoke to the men and then also speak to the men, give them a woman’s point of view and I know the ladies have been waiting for a male point of view; so I would love my husband to also address the women, one-on-one get to know them. Of course, there will be the joint meetings and just seeing everything fall into place. I just long for that day!

I know this all seems like a lot but from the bottom of my heart, this is what I want to do and I strongly believe I was created for this and I long for the day when PoZ will be an acronym known the world over and one that is associated with sharing love, peace and bringing hope to lives, homes, marriages and families! A ministry and movement with thousands, millions of Princes and Princesses of Zion worldwide working together to make the world a better place! Lord, I know that this will happen one day, I don’t know how but I just ask for the grace to hold on, stand strong and persevere. I ask for clarity and I ask that you open the eyes of my heart so I can see and hear you clearly. I ask You Father, to please help me; don’t let me give up! Father please send helpers of destiny and just lead me on this mission. Father, I know that I won’t be doing this alone and so I ask that wherever my husband is, You begin to prepare him, teach him and mould him. I pray that even when we meet, we will connect and we will work together in perfect harmony to achieve Your will. Above all things Lord, let us work hand in hand on our marriage, our home, family and our ministry! Lord, take control of this vision, please don’t let it die! I promise to stay faithful, I just want to make You proud and want to bring change to the society.

I hope this has enlightened you on what the PoZ movement is about and has inspired you to chase your dreams, realise your vision and be the best you can be. I also pray that when this movement becomes a fully functional ministry, you will be a fundamental part of it and will support us with prayers and in every way you can. God bless and prosper you all. AMEN.

It is a message by Dr. Myles Munroe. I’ve recently been watching his sermons on Youtube and they have been a great and mighty resource! Watch “Kingdom Keys to Successful Relationships” Here

www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Vny0DqwDcg

Let’s thank God for this wonderful message, I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did! Let’s also thank God for Dr. Myles Munroe and His ministry and pray that the hand of the Lord will always be upon him and all that he does! May the Lord continue to bless him, his wife, family and ministry just as he blesses us! Let’s also pray for Gloria and thank God for her life! Let’s ask God to continue to bless, prosper and favour her! We pray that as she has sent us such a wonderful message, the Lord will whisper great mysteries to her and surprise her this season in Jesus’ Name. Amen. Every heart desire of hers, may the Lord fulfil and bring to completion in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Lastly, married couples, we would love to hear from you! In August, during the celebration of marriage week, we read the stories and testimonies of a few couples but the readers would like to hear from you; what has been your testimony? How and where did you meet? How long was your courtship? What conflicts have you faced in marriage and how do you deal with it? How do the two of you work on your marriage? We would love you to share your personal testimony with us; so we can be inspired and encouraged! Remember that marriage is not just a union of two people but it is a ministry and we pray that your marriage ministry will be a testimony and a huge source of inspiration that will lead thousands to Christ! It doesn’t matter if you have been married for one month or fifty years, we would love to hear from you because every marriage regardless of its duration has its unique testimony.

Please send your story to us at princessofzion@rocketmail.com

Your name and personal details will not be published in the post, unless you specifically ask us to! God bless you all!

Praying for Marriages

Good Evening family,

How are we all today? Hope you’re enjoying this week so far. London has been extremely rainy and grey; I am looking forward to leaving! Today’s message is going to be short, sweet and straight to the point but I pray that the excellent spirit that was on Daniel will fall upon and rest on us today and always. I pray that what the Lord wants us to learn, He will show us and give us the grace to act according to His will. Amen.

Last week, I was watching a sermon by Dr. Myles Munroe called “Singleness”. It was extremely beautiful and enlightening. One of the things that however stood out for me was when he shortly spoke about divorce. He said that divorce is one of the most painful experiences a human being can go through; worse than death. With death, there is some level of closure but most times with divorce there isn’t. Life goes on but you still see the person; especially if you have kids. You may have to watch the person get married again. It can be an excruciating process, before, during and after!

Two days after that, I was speaking to a friend when she told me about a couple we knew who was getting a divroce; I instantly felt down, sad and broken! I am not close to the couple but it’s just sad to know a couple who was once so in love, made vows to spend their lives together and today their marriage is ending in divorce. It was extremely bad news for me and I spent the rest of the day quite sad. To make things even worse, during my blog run that evening, I learned that a very wonderful and lovely couple in ministry was getting a divorce. All this in one day; I was extremely hurt and sad because only recently I had watched sermons by the wife who is also a Pastor  and I thought she was extremely lovely, wise and humble! I imagined how great a ministry she had and how lovely and peaceful her family must be! I was so sad to learn about this impending divorce and it dawned on me that as christians, we need to intercede for our leaders, our family and friends! We can no longer sit down and watch painful things unfold but we must be active in this fight for peace and unity within our homes, families, marriages and ministry! I personally believe that as Christians, we must be our brother’s keeper! If you are a regular reader of this blog, by now you know that I am very passionate about the family unit, marriage ministry and children and I know most readers are too! We must intercede for families, homes and marriages!

2 Corinthians 10:3-4– For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;).

We can no longer sit back and just watch wonderful and inspirational marriages fail and dissolve, we can no longer sit back and watch families ripped apart of couples living together but in war! We can’t do this anymore! We need to use our power in the spirit realm to fight for unity.

There is a saying that goes “United we stand, divided we fall”; this is very true and is depicted in the Bible.

Deuteronomy 32:30– How could one person chase a thousand of them, and two people put ten thousand to flight, unless their Rock had sold them, unless the Lord had given them up?

Are we all aware of this? There is power in numbers and power in agreement which is why the devil hates unity! He loves to separate and divide and division is a spirit. Tribalism, divorce, family separation/malice, all these issues are spirits manifested by the devil to stop unity and we need to fight against this. There is so much division in the world; whites against blacks, then within the black race, West Indiands Vs Africans; West Africans Vs North Africans, Ghana vs Nigeria, within Nigeria, Igbo Vs Yoruba, even within the tribe, this village versus that village, in that street, this street versus that street, within a family, this side doesn’t speak to that side! I mean it is a spirit and we must understand this! Today, I urge you to pray against every spirit of division within families, tribes, nations and across the world.

More specifically, let’s take the institution of marriage to our Lord who created it and ask Him to intervene! Whether you are single or married, come to God and thank Him for inventing such a beautiful thing as marriage and acknowledge that all He does is perfect! Let’s thank Him for the Bible He provided us with and for the gift of the Holy Spirit who leads us. We need to pray for marriages around us, our marriages, that of friends, colleagues, our parents, grand parents, children and our leaders! You may know of a couple who is going through a difficult time, why not use your authority as a child of God to intercede for them? Pray for them and commit their marriage into God’s hands and declare that they will find peace again, unity will reign in their home and that they will feel love and joy again! Decree that their marriage will never end in divorce but will be a testimony that will lead people to Christ! Amen! What about that couple that you admire, that lovely couple that is so inspirational and happy? Lift them up before God; praise the Lord for the success of their marriage but ask God to continually be with them and to triple their joy. Tell God how much of an inspiration they are to you and you want their marriage to continue to touch others; ask the Lord to give them grace to continue and ensure that their marriage will not end prematurely!

What about our leaders in ministry? Our Pastors in Church and the Pastors whose books and CDs we buy, the sermons we watch online. What about them? Or the ones whose blogs we read? They bless us everyday with their inspirational messages yet do we take the time out to bless them with prayers and prophetic declarations? You know these Pastors have thousands of sheep to tend to and lead, yet do we pray for God to grant them grace and lead them? We need to lift our pastors up before God and ask for His intervention in their lives and ministry! We need to pray for their marriages and ask God to give them strength and grace and decree that their marriage shall never be a failure neither shall they end in divorce! We must decree the favour of God upon their marriage and that the Lord will continually bless their union, take them from strength to strength and magnify the joy they felt on their wedding day throughout the course of their marriage. This year alone, there have been so many cases of divorce in the body of Christ especially within the leadership and it’s very sad to see but I believe that if we all stand together, pray for our leaders always and intercede for them, it will be a thing of the past!

For those of you who are married, pray for your marriage, pray for your spouse; whether in time of trouble or joy! Always ask God to protect and preserve your marriage; always ask God for the grace to hold on and enjoy your marriage! Decree that every spirit of division will be far, very far from your home! While those of you who are still single, yes you may not have met your spouse but begin to pray for your marriage; that it shall never end in tears or divorce! Tell God to give you a marriage which will be beautiful and blessed; one you will enjoy and not endure! One that will bless thousands of people and lead people to Christ! Happy marriages really give children an insight into what the family unit should be and gives them a good start in life and we as Christians need to cherish and protect the gift of marriage and always stand in the gap, praying for marriages all around us! Not only should they last but they should inspire other people and that both parties in the marriage enjoy it and that others around will be touched by the marriage! Decree that divorce will become a thing of the past in ministry and every spirit of division in the Church will die! Decree restoration to the marriages of our leaders and pray that God gives our Pastors the strength and grace to hold on to their families and to always be committed and dedicated to their marriage! We just need to pray; because if we are honest, these statistics do affect people and discourage them and so we must intercede! I hope you will join me today in this fight to preserve, protect the family institution and marriage! God bless you all!

I know she used the shower: Hearing from God 3

Good Morning all my beautiful readers,

Happy Sunday to you all and welcome to the very last day of Septermber 2012! By God’s Grace, we will all see October tomorrow, October 2013, October 2073 and even beyond! Praise the Lord! First of all, I would like to share something with you and encourage you to join in and make it a part of you! In the past, I fasted on every single Monday of the week; just a religious fast to introduce me to the week and invite God’s presence. However, after a corporate fast in Church which we call the “Pursuit of God”, I decided to embark on the pursuit of God at the start of every month! The first three days of the month, I spend fasting, and purposefully spending a lot more time with God; much more than every other time! That doesn’t mean that after this, I don’t pray or read the Bible! I made that decision on the first day of the fast and ironically, after the fast, Pastor spoke to the office workers and asked us to each conduct our own personal “Pursuit of God” every month for three days! I was absolutely shocked because only a few weeks before, I had decided to do it so I knew God was definitely speaking. Yesterday however, I was led by God to share this with you and encourage you to also partake! It’s a period of three consecutive days every month where you spend much more time in prayer, fasting, pursuing God in His word and just communing with Him! Spend the time shut out from the World and hearing from God! I like to do mine at the start of every month because it also gives me a chance to speak to God about the month and ask Him to take control! You can however do it when you choose; at the end, at the middle whenever! But I think as you grow in Christ, you make more efforts and attempt to know Him, encounter Him and commune with Him and this is one I ask you to embark on. If you would like to do this, please do so as led.

On with today’s message, sometime ago, I went into the bathroom to take a shower. We have one of those showers where you can adjust the temperature to different degree’s as opposed to those ones where you have to open hot and cold to get the right temperature. On this, you just adjust it to whatever temperature you like . So, as I entered, I put on the shower and it was hot! Uncomfortably hot and I instantly knew my mother had been in the shower before me! Many other times when I entered and it was quite cold, I knew it was my father! I’ve known them for so many years and became familiar with their choices; even how hot or cold they like their shower! It’s the same thing with God, the more time you spend with Him, hearing His voice, the more sensitive you are to His voice and are able to accurately discern whether or not He is speaking to you! It’s as simple as that! However, many of you have asked how to hear from God and how do you know if it is God, your voice or just pure paranoia? Well, I found this very lovely article about this and I thought to share it with you! Enjoy!

Isaiah 30:21And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.

We’re all keen to hear from God. But the question still remains how do we hear from God? God is always speaking but the problem is we’re not listening. Let’s take this example, there are a lot of radio waves in the air but your radio set can not get a good signal coming in unless you tune in to the actual frequency the radio is broadcasting on. This also holds true to hearing from God. One needs to tune in to the voice of God with their spirit. Often than not we miss His voice…There are many incidents in the Bible where people even men of God missed the voice of God. The prophet Samuel mistook the voice of God for the voice of the High priest Eli (1 Samuel 3:1-19).For the word of the Lord had not been revealed to him (Chapter 3:7) It was not until the priest Eli revealed to him that it was the LORD calling, that Samuel recognised the voice of God from ( Chapter 3:8-9). And once he recognised the voice of God, he did not struggle a second time to recognised the voice a second time, in fact no mention was made in the Bible about Samuel going back to Eli whiles the Lord called again. Therefore, the key to hearing from God is; “recognition of the voice of God”, tuning in to the right spiritual frequency.

The Lord often speaks in mysterious ways, and we should be ready at all times to hear. One thing that will preclude one from hearing from God is familiarity. Often than not, God speaks in ways we cannot perceive as God, the small little whisper (1 Kings 19:11-13).It happened to Elijah on the mount Horeb.God spoke in a gentle whisper instead of the well-known Fire, earthquake and strong wind. This in fact reveals that God can speak through any medium and you just have to be ready for Him. The LORD sometimes uses circumstances and situations to speak to us, and mostly things around us! The key is recognition! My sheep listen to my voice (John 10:27).

Ways God speaks to His Children
Every Father desires his Children pays attention to him, and therefore He will speak as long as the Children listen. God speaks in many ways, the key is we have to Hear:
1. The primary source God uses to speak to his Children is the Bible (Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth).
2. God always speaks of Good things, whilst the devil speaks of evil things.
3. Through our spirit-Our spirit bears witness with the Spirit of God that we are the sons of God (Romans 8:16). God always download information and assignments into our spirit daily, you need to discern them!
4. God speaks through other mediums; situations, circumstances, events, people, animals etc.
5. The voice of God always confirms the word of God, in fact He has placed his word above His Name!
6.If you hear a voice and you’re uncertain if that voice is from God, then ask God for a sign to confirm what you’re hearing. Gideon asked for a confirmation (Judges 6:36-40). In fact there are numerous ways God speaks to us, and one needs to read more of the Bible to discover that truth!
When and Where can we hear God’s voice
We can hear God’s voice everywhere and at anytime.
Who does God Speak to or With?
God does not have a particular preference for who He wants to talk to. God speaks to everyone as long as you are ready to listen to Him. He even speaks into the heart of sinners so that they might come to know His ways (Acts 10:34).
Hearing Correctly
There is a distinction between hearing something and giving heed to the word you’re hearing. Hearing correctly is accomplished by the heart rather than the ears. The heart has ears attached to them, and is only when one learns to hear with the heart rather than with onlythe normal ears that he/she can hear correctly (Mark 4:9).Words must find a place into our hearts and spirit. Faith even comes by hearing and hearing the word of God. You can’t have faith without first hearing the word of God and digesting it with your spiritual faculties. Therefore take heed to what you hear, for whatever you hear will give you faith positively or negatively!
Mark 4:24-And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you; and unto you that hear shall more be given.
How one hears is more important
God is mostly preceded by “Hear !” emphasising the need for us to give heed to the word that follows in our hearts, and not to harden our hearts as did our ancestors and died in the desert. Hearing God is the ability to understand (Discern) and utilize effectively what He says. God will only speak when He needs our attention, and it is important we get that spiritual wavelength that He is transmitting on, so that we don’t miss out on important instructions for our life. Be careful what you’re hearing because there is a lot of noise out there, and the media is full of it! The only medium worthy of authentic information is the Bible handed down to us through revelation and spiritual insight. Once again God is speaking and the key to hearing what He is saying is to be prepared to listen, and recognising that small voice deep inside your inner being. What is God saying in these last days through His spirit and the world order? Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear what God is saying to us in these end-times!
I hope this answered your numerous questions; the key is praying and giving God the opportunity to speak and always being ready, receptive and willing to hear with your heart! God wants us to hear Him and He sure wants to  speak with us! Seek Him and you will find Him! Have a great Sunday and God bless you all!
